Yes, I still love it! I had my first lesson on Friday night, and it was a ball. (I did forget how tiring it can be to play it.) I enjoyed being on the court again, and feeling muscles that I haven't felt for a while! It was nice to rally, and practice my backhand. My forehand needs work, my serve needs work, and my ability to estimate where the ball goes needs work! (Yep, just about the whole game needs work!!! lol) My teacher was pretty nice to me, and told me that I am staying down well when I hit the ball on backhands. That made me feel good.
I really like my teacher. He is a nice guy that puts it into terms that I can understand. He's very patient and gives great critique.
I know that I have a long ways to go, but at least I've begun my quest to get myself ready to play in leagues. Next lesson is Tuesday night, and I can hardly wait! Now to just make myself practice! Okay...who's up for a game?!?

Keeping in Shape...or Getting in Shape...lol
Okay...we finally did it! We joined a Health Club this week, and on Tuesday night we went and worked out. Man! It felt so good to go and do something again. With it getting dark earlier, we haven't been able to get in our walks. So the treadmill, bike, stair-stepper, and crosstrainer all felt great! When we went to workout, Don said that he didn't want to do too much. Then he proceeded to lead me to all of these machines...one after the other! (By the time we hit the last one, I thought that my legs were going to fall off!) And we ended up working our arms on a few machines too. I loved it! We couldn't go last night, as I was sick, but we are headed back out tonight, to keep up with it. Hopefully we will get back in shape, and Don wants to lose some weight. Our Club is a nice place...not too crowded, close to our home, and it has...AN OUTDOOR POOL! (If you know me...you know that I live to lay out and read! I've missed my pool this summer from my apartments!) In the winter, they put a bubble over it, so if you were a swimmer, you could swim year-round. (Is that what a pool is for?!? lol)
Then Friday night I have my first tennis lesson in 2 years. I'm so excited about it. I contacted a teacher that I'd taken from 2 summers ago, and he was still teaching. THAT will feel way good...to work on my game, and finally play again. (I've had a difficult time finding someone to play with...everyone always turns me down! Am I THAT bad?!?) My next step, after a few more lessons, is to join a tennis club and play in the winter and keep up with it. I really want to do league play someday with doubles. That's my ultimate goal! But, it is hard to do when you are not really fast, and not the most coordinated person around! LOL
We have made small adjustments on our eating habits. We have cut out white bread...except when we eat our Cream of Wheat on the weekends. (Man, do I miss my peanut butter and honey sandwiches!) Don just has a half of a sandwich now, on wheat and I opt instead for a string cheese. We are eating more fresh veggies. (Cut up celery, carrots, and cherry tomatoes at lunchtime.) We eat raw Almonds (thanks Julie...for the idea!) We are trying to not eat as much at meals, and I have given up pop. We've been doing that for a month now, and I haven't really seen a difference, but I know now that we are adding in the workouts, it will happen. I guess that we are just trying to eat healthier, and be more careful with our diets. Don hits the big 5-0 in October, and it has started us thinking about our bodies more.
If you are worried about me with my diet and think that we've gone nuts over it....don't worry! Sugar is still a staple of it, and I still eat my share of it. (I love making and eating the homemade desserts too much to get rid of it!) It will be a part of my life, until I'm told otherwise. So if you come to my home for Sunday dinner...you will still be treated to a good serving of dessert! You might only get one serving of the main dish...but you will be able to eat as much of the dessert as you want! :)

Welcome to the World...Baby Beckham!
This morning, Don's daughter, Laura had her little boy. Little Beckham was born around 1am, and weighed 6.5 pounds, and was 18" long. They sent us a picture on the phone, and he is a little doll. This is Laura's second little boy...Boston is her first one. (If you look at our wedding pictures with all of the kids, Laura has a little pregnancy bump in them.)
We are thrilled to have another grandchild, and are so relieved that all went well. Mother and baby are resting, after such an eventful night!

Jenny
How many times can I post something good about my beautiful daughter Jenny? I just want you all to know, that she passed her practicals and state board on doing nails/toes. She is now official! I'm so proud of her!
She worked at a job that she hated to save up the money, and then paid for it all before starting the school. Her favorite thing to do...is Gel. So if you want some sparkly toes or nails...she can do them. (Amid other things...but Gel is the NEW Cool thing to do!) Just ask me, I have Gel toes.
When she first started school, we saw Jenny, and she had these amazing Red sparkling toes. I told her that it reminded me of Dorothy's red shoes from Wizard of Oz. She told me that that is what it was called. Now I am not that brave...so I always use a color that doesn't stand out so much. (By-the-way, if you don't want glitter in them, they can leave it clear or put on a color. The choice is up to you.) When winter comes, I'll remove the glitter, and just go for a color. (Okay, this is when I wish had my camera, to show you the fun that you can have! I will work on that!!!)
Jenny is going to work out of her home, and she is so clever! She has advertised a little on KSL.com, and already gotten some fun Gel Toe parties! (She will travel to their homes.) I wonder, if I had one, would anyone around here come??? It would be fun for you to see what it is all about!
Anyways!!! Congratulations Jenny, and may you have lots of fun, as you embark on your new career!

September?
Wow! Time sure flies by fast! I cannot believe that it is September 10th! Where did August go??? Well, guess that I need to update you on some of what we have done for the past 4 weeks. Don't worry! I won't tell you EVERYTHING!
One fun thing that we did, was to go and watch my brother Mark in his waterskiing competition. I'd never seen it before, and we both enjoyed it. It was by Tooele at a small competition man-made lake. Really makes you appreciate those that can slalom! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!
Labor Day weekend we went to Idaho and spent it with my sister DeEtte and her husband Russell. My other sister Kim and her husband Mike were there too. DeEtte lives in Victor, ID, which is just over the mountain from Jackson Hole, WY. We drove up on Saturday and looked around in Jackson Hole and the Teton Village. The day was nice, not too warm and not too cold. I hadn't been in that area since I was really small. Don used to go with his ex's family, so he showed me some fun places. That night we met my sisters for a show/dinner at the Bar J Wrangler Ranch. It was a hoot! They were pretty funny. Only bad thing, is that the show was pretty long. On Sunday we went to church, and then hung out at DeEtte's home. Her daughters Colby and Brittney were there, with some friends. On Monday we came home. It was a great weekend, and a good break for us away from Salt Lake!
It was so nice to not have to work on Monday! I love those 3 day weekends!
In August, Don's foreman Nate Butler quit. He bought his own mowing company, and is going to try his hand there. We will miss him! He was a good part of our crew, and helped us a lot. Now Don's work load will increase a lot.
Jake and Josh are home from selling in CA. They are happy to be here! Jake is back in school and Josh is working for Grandpa Steve, outside. I am so glad that they are back around!
Jenny graduated from her Nail School this past week. Today she is doing the practicals and next week she is taking the written exam from the state. We are so proud of her! She earned the money, and then went to school. She comes out of it not owing anything. I think that is pretty cool! I have had her do a few things for me, and she does a great job! She is really into the Gel prouducts...nails and toes. They are quite the rave right now.
Jed had a lump on his neck removed this past Monday. It was just in and out surgery, and he took that day to rest up from it. I think that he was worried about having it, so they removed it. He is doing well on his mission, and has his first baptism on Saturday, the 13th. He's pretty stoked for it!
Todd, Don's son, is at Dixie going to school. He called last night, and told us he had gone deer hunting, with his bow, and gotten a deer. He was excited about it, and so was Don. It is his first deer with the bow.
Jenny, Laura, and I went to a fun Taste of Homes Food Show on Monday night. I wanted to do something with both of my "daughters". It was long...about 3.5 hours! We saw 10 recipes prepared and they gave away a TON of prizes, but we didn't win. Well, maybe next time! They also put on a Christmas show...I think it would be fun to go to that one too. We got some fun recipes to try, free samples, and coupons.
Well, that is all that I'll share for now. It is enough!!!! Hope everyone is doing well! Thanks for checking in on us.
